Easy peasy Awin linking
Clearly the tech guys at Affiliate Window do not have the Christmas holidays on their mind nor are they winding down as the nights draw in. Nope, nothing like it, in fact they are still working at top speed. Hot on the back of their Awin Analytics the dev department have today pushed out their first firefox pugin named FireAW.
Now I don’t know about you but at this point I kinda laughed at the name and started making my own up… FireWindow, WindowFox, AWox, DeepWindow etc. I guess they settled on FireAW ;)
Get on with it
Sorry, got side tracked there. Ok, well the plugin is a snappy little tool that plugs directly into the FireFox browser and allows you to create a deeplink to any AW merchant at the click of a button. Sweet.
It’s worth pointing out and giving credit where it’s due, PaidOnResults had this exact functionality nailed down a long long time ago (December 2005!) although with slight installation and operational differences. I get the distinct impression though that with AW’s big brands and the fact that it’s a slick implementation that this will gather some traction amongst affiliates.
Installation is a breeze
- Install the plugin (Mozilla account required)
- Insert your Aff ID
- Insert your password
- Done
The plugin in action
1) Navigate to a merchant website
With the set-up complete you can go to any Affiliate Window merchant website and create a deeplink to any product (or page) by simply clicking the ‘AW’ icon or using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Alt+B.
NOTE: Deeplinks can be generated for any merchant on the network irrespective of your status with that merchant. However you cannot generate deeplinks to websites that do not work with Affiliate Window.

2) Configure the deeplink
The code for the new deeplink will appear in a pop-up window with some options;
- Take the link as a URL or pure HTML
- Add a Click Ref
- Edit the ‘Alt’ text
With your preferences made, copy the code to your clipboard, then paste it on to your site, email, blog then set it live.

Right, I’m off to see if I can break this thing grab some deeplinks. But before I go, it was great to see Adam Ross (Client Services Director, Affiliate Window) taking the time to revisit an old post by Lee McCoy on this exact subject to let him know they have listened to affiliates and responded with a solution. Just goes to show what happens when you put your thoughts into blog format. Why not tell us yours?
